There are many things in life that I love and am passionate about. For example music, traveling, sports and living in a tropical paradise. Nothing, however, stands out more than sitting in my friends green aluminum beach chair wearing my Ray Band shades lathered in sunscreen and chilling to the sweet sounds of the waves hitting the shore. To sweeten this beautiful setting my friends and I indulge in a few puffs of America's finest and tap open a nice cold brew to overcome the overwhelming cottonmouth and to obtain the perfect high.
I must claim that the combination of "fire" buds and tasty brew equates to a highness of all highs, a mellow sweet relaxation of total bliss. I must make you aware of a few signal rules to obtaining this incredible feeling.
Rule number 1: You must smoke before you drink the cold refreshing brew.
Rule Number 2: It takes the perfect combination of bud to brew ratio.
Rule Number 3: Enjoy the highness of all highs in a relaxing atmosphere.
As always 420 has a way of falling on a weekday. As such many of us are confronted with the dilemma of skipping a day of work or school to celebrate this infamous holiday. After an entire year of analyzing this difficult decision, I have decided this year it was best to combine the two. Toke at work.I came to this conclusion using The Three D’s Analytical Model of Responsible 420 Skipping.
The model consists of the following analytical topics; Depends on schedule or your days work load, Days you have missed thus far, and Day of the week 420 falls on.
Depends on schedule or workload: Do you have any tests, assignments, meetings, clients to talk to, deadlines soon approaching, or anything that requires your full attention and time?
Days you have missed thus far: are you one more skip away from getting yourself in trouble or for a more professional reader, how many more sick days or vacations days do you have left?
Day of the week 420 falls on: Does 420 fall on a Friday or a Monday?
One thing I've noticed about weed, is that it brings people together. Doctors, lawyers, even police officers and school teachers might find themselves passing a pipe or a joint around a circle of free spirited hippies! Situations like this breed many social smoking "faux pas." The breaking of these unwritten (until now) rules may not land you in "stoner jail" but it may make someone think twice about handing you their joint. I could sit here write and entire book on smokers etiquette, but instead I'm going give you a brief overview of what I think to be the some of the most important things to remember when being in a social smoking situation.
Rule #1: "Dont bogart that joint man!"
To "Bogart" means you're holding the weed too long! Whether it's a pipe, joint, bong, a fucking apple with a hole cut in it, if your holding it too long, you my friend are "Bogarting"!
Synonyms for borgarting may include: "camping", "holding the mic, and the ever popular "pitching a tent"! Some smart-ass may even try to call u "Coleman"...
Rule # 2 "Never fuck up the rotation!"
The rotaion is the order or direction in which the herb is being passed, if it's going clockwise, keep passing it clockwise, seems sooo simple, yet you'll be surprised at how many people "fuck up the rotation"!
Rule # 3 "puff Puff PASS!!!"
This rule goes hand in hand with rules 1 & 2, so you're not holding the mic any more, and you've figured out that you can't fuck up the rotation, now u gotta remember to "puff puff PASS", when someone gets mad at you for bogarting it's not really because your just holding the herb and doing nothing with it (which is still very annoying cause I wanna get high), but it's because you are taking more then your fair share, too much puff not enough PASS. So just remember the pattern puff puff PASS!, and never again will you be "that guy" with the shitty smokers etiquette!!!!!!!
About Tsunami: The Tsunami water pipe was constructed in an effort to make the smoke of a "hit" swirl and rise, similar to that of an actual tsunami wave. The piece also includes fine punctures made along its glass body, creating "air-jets," which help to filter out tar particles. As such, they are advertised as a double-filtered pipe because of this extra form of tar extraction. While Tsunami's may vary in size and color, the one constant that remains in each piece is the 6 "air-jets". This increases the velocity flow of the smoke when inhaling, which results in a quicker, faster "hit".
Additionally, the Tsunami uses a special down-stem (more about this later), which connects to an ash-catcher (a small glass bubble filled with water). A bowl is then connected to the top of the ash-catcher. When smoking, the ash falls into the ash-catcher and is kept there, preventing any solid materials from entering the main chamber of the Tsunami. This feature keeps the main water clean, and many users report a smoother taste because of this.
Every Tsunami has a small hole on the lower front wall of its body, known as a carburetor or "carb". This feature forces the smoke to rise quickly during a "clear," resulting in the air being rushed in to the lungs without any sort of resistance. The glass that makes up every hand-manufactured Tsunami is Schott Glass from Germany, and is advertised as being "virtually unbreakable."
Product Review:
So is or isn't it a "knock-off" Hurricane water pipe?
Similar to many others chronsumers, these were my first thoughts before purchasing the Tsunami water pipe. To answer the question honestly, in my opinion: No it's not! I happen to love my Tsunami and continue to believe it was an excellent investment whose purchase i definitely do not regret. I was fortunate enough to pick mine up for cheap (~$140) at the CHAMPS Trade Show, however, most Tsunami's run somewhere between $180-$300, depending on size, color and place of purchase. The pipe gives its users a very smooth and clean hit and the ash catcher helps to maintain a cleaner main chamber/body. Another aspect that attracted me to the Tsunami was its durability. My piece has been able to withstand many unfortunate encounters including falling to the floor, and bumping into tables and counter tops, all resulting in little to no damage whatsoever of the main body.
Like any other product, however, the Tsunami water pipe does has some downfalls of its own. The main problem other users, including myself, have encountered has come in the form of a broken down-stem. For a product that takes such great pride in being advertised as "virtually unbreakable," it is unfortunate that they didn't spend more time developing a more durable intricate part of the Tsunami, the down-stem. Likewise, being that the parts aren't universal, it can become tough to get them replaced easily. Another concern i have with the piece is its portability, or lack there of. Because its parts (ash-catcher, down-stem, and bowl) need to be attached to the body in order to function, moving the assembled piece to different locations can become a risky problem for its users without the use of protective pouch. Again, this is due primarily as a result to the faulty design of the "weak" down-stem.
I hope other chronsumers will find this review helpful in easing their decision making process about whether or not to purchase a Tsunami water pipe.
